Ruth Ford was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi on July 7, 1911. She died on August 12, 2009 at the age of 98 in Manhattan, New York City, New York. She is most-known for acting and modeling fashion. She attended the University of Mississippi. Ruth performed in Orson Welles’ Mercury plays and was later discovered. She has worked for Columbia Pictures as well as Warner Brothers.

Ruth Ford has died aged 98. She was an actress on stage and screen. She was best-known for the salon. she created at her apartment in the Dakota Building in New York. She was wife of Hollywood star Zachary Scott.

She had two husbands, in the 1970s Ruth Ford took up with a much younger man, the author Dotson Rader, whom she installed in an attic room ,she also kept at the Dakota.
Ruth Elizabeth Ford was born on July 7 1911 at Brookhaven, Mississippi, where her father, Charles Ford, owned hotels; her mother, Gertrude Cato, had been a hostess in a local coffee shop and later became a painter. Ruth's childhood was peripatetic, and she began her performing career as a campus queen.

She counted William Faulkner, Cecil Beaton, Truman Capote and Andy Warhol among her friends.

She appeared as a model in the fashion magazines, posing for the great photographers of the day, Man Ray, Cecil Beaton and Carl Van Vechten. Then, in 1935, she went to model in Paris. The art collector Edward James had seen her once before with Tchelitchew, whose works he collected, and became an unlikely suitor. He commissioned Tchelitchew to paint her in 1937, and proposed frequently, but was always rejected. Many years later she remarked: "I was beautiful, attractive, intelligent, amusing, good company. Of course he was in love with me, but I didn't want to marry him."

In 1938, Ford joined Welle Mercury Theatre group and made her Broadway debut the same year in Shoemaker Holiday. She moved to Hollywood in 1941 and went on to appear in films like Wilson, The Woman Who Came Back and Murder on the Waterfront.

It is said that Ford was not in communication with her daughter since their estrangement, nor was she in contact with her grandbabies.
